Photography by Berenice Guzzo.
Denisa Zajacova (b. 1995) is a Slovak-born conceptual artist who has lived in England since 2009. She graduated with a First Class BA in Fine Art Mixed Media from the University of Westminster in 2023. Her work has been exhibited at Bow Arts Nunnery Gallery, The Bomb Factory Art Foundation, Marylebone, and Fabrica, Brighton. She is also a co-founder of Transit Grp., a peer-to-peer artist collective that develops workshops and exhibitions centred on making work through travel and experimentation, and participated in the RAW Labs Artist Residency in 2025.
Working through documentary methods including photography, sculpture and rubbing, Zajacova investigates the ambiguities of everyday urban life and questions systems of value through encounters with overlooked objects, materials and infrastructure. Photography acts as a document of encounter, forming the starting point for sculptural works that reconstruct familiar objects using discarded plastic food containers, where material becomes inseparable from the concept of the work. Alongside sculpture, her rubbings record the overlooked textures of the built environment, examining labour, urban memory and the material traces embedded within everyday infrastructure. Across her practice, she embraces the contradictions of consumer culture, inviting viewers to reconsider how value is assigned through context, use and perception.
